Happy, funky feet [Product review & giveaway]

March 25, 2013

Two little kittens arrived in the mail for Baby Nat, and boy, was the little one happy!

Funky Feet Footwear

These soft, flat, cute little Funky Feet Footwear (which looked more like mice than cats to me!) were handmade in the UK and features anti-slip suede soles that are flexible, allowing my little toddling munchkin to move freely, which is crucial for developing his foot strength. What’s best is that the shoes are also machine washable and are designed to provide maximum comfort for those growing feet with 100% cotton linings and soft fleece insoles.

Nat and his new shoes

The 12-18m shoes things fit the littlest perfectly, and he’s been wearing them everywhere since he got them – to the mall, to the playground, to the supermarket – and playing with those stringy whiskers whenever he gets the chance.

An absorptive inner sole to protect the feet from first stomps, grip for first tottering and making sure they look so good for first struts!

I feel the softness/comfort and the grip of undersoles are important. Soft and natural like wearing no shoes and yet be firm enough to grip the ground.

I’d go for the right balance of flexibility (to promote natural walking gait in early walkers) and support (to protect their ankles).

The only thing that I look for when buying shoes for my baby is the design of it. As my baby is really growing really fast, the shoes will only last for a while. So it’s good to look cute! Secondly would be it’s comfort level. 😀

The one thing that I always look out for is that there is sufficient space in the toe box for my boy’s toes. I have read that constricting shoes could lead to poor and even deformed growth of the foot *gasp*!

Personally, I think that the soles of shoes are most important. They need to provide enough traction so that toddlers don’t easily slip and fall, but not too much as it may impede their walking. Comfort is also key for toddlers, and also for the development of their feet – nothing too constricted. At this age, function over form, definitely (though with kids shoes, you can get plenty of pretty looking shoes anytime!)

Quality is important! If the shoes are of inferior quality, they will not be comfortable, and may be quickly or easily damaged.

I dont have kids, but i have a godson. 🙂
To me, the most important thing i look out for when buying shoe is, will the child love it so much that he/she will want to wear it all the time?
Funky foot wear has all that a kid will want 🙂 comfort, bright colours, cartoon

For early walkers like my girl, it’s the shoes’ ability to simulate bare-foot walking and to protect their tender feet from dangers in the environment.

The firstborn had pairs and pairs of shoes waiting for her even before she could walk. The second born is on the verge of walking and has been wearing sister’s hand me dons 😐  I look for comfort in Pre-walker shoes, as in soft materials that don’t cause blisters on their sensitive skin. I personally don’t go for support as yet since they’re just standing and cruising for the time being

When i buy shoes for my children, I do look out for brands that design comfortable children’s shoes. It must be soft, and the grip for under soles must be good.. i don’t even bear to buy expensive shoes for myself but i will do it for my children!

To me, they must be gentle such that no blisters form, yet have good support!

the most important to me is softness/comfort. As the babies grow and learn to walk, the shoes must not hinder the action of walking and must be as natural as not wearing shoes at all.

by the way, these shoes are really really cute!

The fit of a shoe for my boy. He balances better if it’s a good fit. Plus, it also means the shoe’s more comfy to toddle around in!

  • Reply Mabel March 25, 2013 at 4:51 PM

The single most important thing I look for when buying shoes is COMFORT. no point have the best everything but not comfortable walk in.

  • Reply Lynn March 25, 2013 at 4:46 PM

Since my girl, Faith, still can’t walk, I don’t think she would tell how good the soles are or is bothered by that. But, the mother wants her to look good and thus besides making sure that the pair of shoes fits her in terms of size, the other important factor would be how cute the shoes are.
So, yes, for now, ‘pretty feet’ are what the ‘vainpot’ mother is looking out for when buying shoes.

i personally feel that the grip of the undersoles is very important for 1st walkers!
